About/Review Policy

About Me:

I’ve been running this blog since November of 2013. Books have always held a special place in my heart, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I rediscovered just how magical the written word can be. I’m a big advocate for reading for fun and so book snobbery is something I don’t appreciate. I read Middle Grade, Young Adult, and Adult fiction, but this blog mostly focuses on YA as a reflection of my reading habits. I give credit to Harry Potter for reminding me that books are not just words on paper, but worlds just waiting for someone to open the door.

**This Blog is Currently Not Accepting Any Review Requests**

Review Policy:

I rate books on a scale from one to five. My book reviews are always honest and respectful; however, I do not shy away from writing negative reviews, but I will keep my criticism limited to the work rather than the author. Reviews on this blog are also posted on Goodreads and Amazon. I also provide links to my reviews on Google+, Tumblr, and Twitter. All my reviews are from books I’ve either purchased or checked out from the library unless otherwise stated. Receiving a book for free through authors, publishers, NetGalley, or giveaways in no way affects my review.

For Publishers and Authors:

Please note that I am only accepting physical copies of books for requests.

I am currently only accepting physical copies of books for review requests (unless your title is listed on NetGalley). You can contact me here with the title of your book and a synopsis. I will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know if I’ve accepted your request and provide you with my shipping information. If you need your book reviewed by a certain date, please let me know in your initial email, as this will affect whether I am able to review your book. Requests for reviews will be available within four months of receiving a book. Any books I receive, including ARCs, will not be sold for profit. Both published and indie authors are welcome to send me a request.

Books I enjoy:

Young-Adult: Fantasy

Young-Adult: Science-Fiction

Young-Adult: Paranormal

Young-Adult: Horror

Middle School: Fantasy

Any changes I make to my policy will appear on this page.

  1. I am putting together a directory of active book blogs. If you don’t want to be included, please let me know and I will take you off. On the other hand, if you would like to add any information about your blog, I’d be glad to add it, such as a button, genres, or review request availability. Here’s the link to the page: http://booksthathook.com/directory/

  2. Hi Alicia! I am planning to post my Feature with Followers meme on Sunday (February 12th, 2017 PST) and I was wondering if you were interested and have the time to be one of my Featured Followers for February! I thought what better way to comment on your blog than to just share you and your blog generally through my FWF post! (: If you are interested, please respond to this comment ASAP or email me at jbelkbooks[at]gmail.com. If you think that it would be more efficient for us to chat through some form of social media instead of email, definitely let me know! It will not take much time — I just plan on asking a few questions and obtaining some more insight on you & your overall blog.

If you aren’t too aware of this post, I would recommend checking it out here:

Thanks so much & I look forward to hearing back from you! (:

P.S. I know it’s a little early, but some people have busy schedules so I like to contact you guys as soon as possible so you have time to chat with me…
