Hope your holiday season is going well, friends! I’ve had this idea for a blog series since November, but didn’t have a chance to work on it until this month. As a result, this might be the only holiday gift guide post you see. It really depends on how stressed I get as Christmas inches closer. I really wanted to put out this particular one as I’ve mentioned before how much I adore middle grade books. So if you are looking for book recommendations catered to the middle graders in your life, this is the post for you. I’ve divided this list into genres and have also included a young adult section as many older middle schoolers are ready to jump into an older age reading group and I think these books would be the perfect fit.

- Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
- A Dash of Trouble by Anna Meriano
- Muse Squad: The Cassandra Curse by Chantel Acevedo
- A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle
- Savvy by Ingrid Law
- The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera
- Sal & Gabi Break the Universe by Carlos Hernandez

- Shug by Jenny Han
- Into the Tall, Tall Grass by Loriel Ryon
- Lupe Wong Won’t Dance by Donna Barba Higuera
- The Dream Weaver by Reina Luz Alegre
- Land of the Cranes by Aida Salazar
- Tight by Torrey Maldonado
- The Moon Within by Aida Salazar

- The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste
- Ghost Squad by Clariebel A. Ortega
- Hide and Seeker by Daka Hermon
- Paola Santiago and the River of Tears by Tehlor Kay Mejia
- The Forgotten Girl by India Hill Brown

- I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill Youo by Ally Carter
- The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F. C. Yee
- Running by Natalia Sylvester
- Blazewrath Games by Amparo Ortiz
- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
- Perfectly Parvin by Olivia Abtahi
- Dear Martin by Nic Stone
What middle grade novels would you recommend those shopping for gifts? Let me know if you decide to purchase any of these for the middle schoolers in your life!
I already purchased Carter’s book for my daughter earlier this year and it was a hit.

Fun list. I love Middle Grade books and I do want to read more. I love Nevermoor – have the second and need to continue. The Thieves of Weirdwood is another really good book!
