This year I want to dive into more horror and I am especially excited about horror novels coming out that are written by Latinx authors. High on my TBR is Cynthia Pelayo’s Children of Chicago which takes the story of the Pied Piper and turns it into a murder mystery. I personally think the Pied Piper story is already pretty creepy on its own, so I am excited to see what Pelayo does with this one. Cover is linked to Goodreads.

She may have to ruin her life by exposing her secrets and lies to stop the Pied Piper before he collects.“

I just saw another story that also was based on the same fairy tale, The Pied Piper. And I agree that the story is already rather spooky on its own. Fun pick!

“…keeping a promise she made long ago with her sister’s murderer…”
That completely got my attention. The Pied Piper was one of my favorite stories as a kid and this looks like it’ll be a great modern retelling. Hope you enjoy it!
