Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020

Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020.” This week’s list is torture! How am I supposed to decide which ten books I’m most anticipating for the first half of 2020 when I literally have like 50 books on my TBR for that time period? Alas, I feel like I left some good ones off my list, but it is what it is. Also leaving off a certain book whose ARC I’ve already read (*whispers* Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore, read it). Covers are linked to Goodreads.

1. Seven Deadly Shadows Courtney Alameda and Valynne E. Maetani– Publication Date: January 28th 2020

2. Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon – Publication Date: February 18th 2020

3. We Unleash the Merciless Storm by Tehlor Kay Mejia – Publication Date: February 25th 2020

4. The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin – Publication Date: March 26th 2020

5. Ghost Squad by Claribel Ortega – Publication Date: April 7th 2020

6. Incendiary by Zoraida Córdova – Publication Date: April 28th 2020

7. Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo – Publication Date: May 4th 2020

8. Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – Publication Date: June 9th 2020

9. Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – Publication Date: June 30th 2020

10. 10 Things I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon – Publication Date: June 30th 2020

Are you looking forward to any of these as well? Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave me a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.

    1. 10 Things I Hate About Pinky is in the same universe as When Dimple Met Rishi and There’s Something About Sweetie, so you might want to read those two first (although it should be able to stand by itself, it’d probably be better). OCAK is really good… and it’s the first of a trilogy!

  1. Such a dangerous topic this week. Haha. This is the first I’ve heard of Mexican Gothic. And Incendiary looks really good as well. All of these do! I hope you are able to read them all. Happy Reading!

  2. The City We Became and Cemetery Boys also made my list, because they both sound so good! Ghost Squad’s cover is so gorgeous… I’m definitely looking that one up immediately! It seems like one I’d enjoy too.

  3. Great list! Haha I listed way more than 10 – I couldn”t narrow them down! Mexican Gothic, Cemetery Boys and The City We Became made my list this week, too. I really need to cross We Set the Dark On Fire off my TBR, and I’m very intrigued by Incendiary.

  4. Hallo, Hallo Alicia,

I went a different route and ironically or not, in the end I felt I was more on topic than off – mostly as we’re discussing the books we most want to be reading during this time of the New Year. I focused on the Non-Fiction Reads I’ve never had the chance to finish reading or actually start reading due to migraines and my father’s stroke in 2016. You can check out the list and see if anything catches your eye as its a hodgepodge of selections! 🙂

The one selection of yours which stood out was “10 Things I Hate about Pinky” as I was curious if that was a riff on “10 Things I Hate About You” (the film, Julia Stiles, etc) which plays off Shakespeare “Taming of the Screw”. Whilst happily finding its in the series I’ve been meaning to listen too!! Ooh boy! I decided not to even read the premise – as I started listening to the first novel a few years ago and never had the chance to circle back — perhaps this is my year!?

  5. Clap When We Land also made my list* this week. I’m so bummed I didn’t find out about Mexican Gothic until after I had already written up my post, because that cover gives me life. I’m so happy to see it so well represented this week! Wish you luck in getting all these titles read in 2020!

Feel free to check out my list here:

  6. Mexican Gothic looks pretty awesome. Silvia Moreno- Garcia is an author who seems to be getting lots of good attention, I definitely ant to try at least one of her books in 2020.
