Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Holiday Reads.” So I don’t have too many books that necessarily remind me of the holidays, probably because I don’t pick up a lot of seasonal themed books. That being said, what does remind me of the holiday season is buying books for my nieces and nephews. This year the older ones are at the perfect age for MG and even some YA books and I am so excited. So for this week’s topic, I am sharing ten books I am considering buying for them this Christmas. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
1. Dear Martin by Nic Stone
2. Unwind by Neal Shusterman
3. Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden
4. Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia
5. Lety Out Loud by Angela Cervantes
6. Tight by Torrey Maldonado
7. Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee
8. Sal & Gabi Break the Universe by Carlos Hernandez
9. The Strangers by Margaret Peterson Haddix
10. The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste
Do you gift books for the holiday season? Any you are considering and for whom? Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave me a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
Dragon Pearl looks so enticing. I always mean to read Holiday books during the holidays and then don’t do it. This year will be different. My Holiday book list

AWW! “Lety Out Loud” has such a cuuute cover. 🙂 I’ve seen Margaret’s books around, but never read what they’re all about. Either way, I haven’t heard of these, but I bet your nieces and nephews will love them.

I hope they like them! My friend in Arizona and her daughter said they were readlng a lot of books now… I happen to have a lot of ARCs that need a new home, so guess what they’re getting? I also bought my niece the Legend series several years ago and my nephew a book before too. And my dad. Book gifts for the win!

I almost put down Legend but it’s been so long, I’m not sure if it’s the right fit.

No I don’t have that many readers around me that I exchange gifts with in that budget.

I read Unwind years and years ago, but it still stuck with me.

Your nieces and nephews are so lucky!
I usually give a novel or two to friends or family members. This year I found The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin for a friend who likes to think positive and surround herself with upbeat people.

Dear Martin was a great book. I’m considering buying it for my nephew! He’s 12, so just trying to figure out if I should get it this year or wait a few more.

Hmm, I think it depends on the kid and where he is reading/maturity wise. This is going to be a gift for my 14 year old nephew.

I always love buying books for presents. I’m working on a gift basket for my mom and am trying to find a few books to add to it for her. When my cousins children lived with my Grandpa, I always gave them books for Christmas. Such great gift ideas and I personally loved Dear Martin.

Thanks for sharing these! I am going to have to take a look at some of them for my daughter. I see a couple of them that might be up her alley.
Here are some holiday reads I would like to read: My Top Ten Tuesday.

I like your spin on today’s topic! I love the Unwind series. It’s a great one for teens because it’s interesting and exciting, but it also makes you think. I’m also enjoying the Marsden series. I’m several books in – I need to keep going because lots of exciting stuff happens in every book!
Happy TTT!

Lots of great choices! Unwind is a personal favourite of mine. My younger cousins are all under five years old, but I am excited for when they will be old enough for me to buy them middle grade books.
