Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Authors I’d Love to Meet.” Did you know that it’s Latinx Heritage Month? I loved that this topic came up because I’ve been paying homage to Latinx authors (you can check out my posts here and enter my Twitter giveaway in celebration here) on my blog and I’d love to gush some more. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
1. Anna-Marie McLemore – Who could have guessed that Anna-Marie McLemore would end up on this list? Yes, I’m being sarcastic. I am continually impressed and enamored with her novels.
2. Zoraida Córdova – Labyrinth Lost was one of the first books I read where I felt represented and I will be forever grateful to Zoraida Córdova because of this.
3. Silvia Moreno-Garcia – I love when authors surprise you with their ability to write any genre. Silvia Moreno-Garcia is such a gifted writer, I think everyone could benefit from hearing her speak.
4. Adam Silvera – I have a feeling Adam Silvera is a delight in person even if I somehow also suspect he enjoys torturing us a little bit with his novels.
5. Lily Anderson – I will be forever screaming Lily Anderson’s name until she gets the recognition she deserves. Also, she is hilarious on paper and I am sure in person as well.
6. Elizabeth Acevedo – If you haven’t heard Elizabeth Acevedo recite her poetry, do yourself a favor and head on over to YouTube and check her out. Acevedo has such a powerful voice and I would love to be in a room with her and hear her speak.
7. Ibi Zoboi – American Street was such a wonderful debut and after finishing Pride, I’d love to hear Ibi Zoboi talk about how she infuses spiritual elements into her novels
8. Guadalupe García McCall – I feel that if you haven’t at least heard of this author, you haven’t been paying attention to Latinx authors of influence in YA lit.
9. Isabel Quintero – How many years must pass between a book being written and it being called a classic? Gabi, a Girl in Pieces is one of those books I wish I had around as a teen.
10. Daniel José Older – Because I need to know how Older came up with the brilliant and vibrant world-building in Shadowshaper, I need to hear him speak.
Have you had the pleasure of meeting any of these authors in person? Which Latinx author would you like to meet? Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave me a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
I don’t go to author or bookish events so I’ve never met any of my re-read or favorite authors. Still… someday I’d like to meet some of them, so this week made for a fun list to put together. Hope you can meet some of these authors, Alicia! 🙂

I love Lily Anderson. If you are looking for something lighter, pick up her novel They Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You. It is hilarious. Adam Silvera is amazing. I hope you get a chance to read his stuff soon.

It isn’t at all. I actually want to do a reread of it before picking up the sequel.

I actually met Córdova at a Nerd Girl lunch in NYC. It was a really fun event. I think I have a signed copy of Vicious Blue from it. I met Silvera at BookExpo in 2016 (Sloth even took a picture), and I saw a BookCon panel moderated by Older. He was really funny.

What a wonderful list. Silvia Moreno-Garcia wrote one of my favorite horror books of all time – the one you’ve shown – and I really need to pick up something else by her!

I love your take on this week’s prompt! I didn’t realize it was Latinx Heritage Month, either, but it’s a good month for it. 🙂 I really need to read Pride by Ibi Zoboi, and she strikes me as a fabulous person to meet, too! I’m also dying to read When The Moon Was Ours, but I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by Anna-Marie McLemore before. This is a great list, and all these authors sound super interesting. 🙂

Thanks, Sammi! It is. It started Septemeber 15th. Yes, I’d love to hear Ibi Zoboi speak in person. I love When the Moon Was Ours. Anything Anna-Marie McLemore writes is so beautiful.

Many of these names are familiar to me thanks to you and the book blogging community. However, I feel like I haven’t heard Daniel José Older’s name in ages. Her book came out, everyone loved it, then nothing.

Older releases Shadowshaper and the sequel, but has been working on an MG novel which just released and sometimes YA fans aren’t MG fans as well.
