Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read.” Yikes, I feel like this week’s topic is personally calling me out. I have quite a few book on my shelf as well as my TBR in general by authors I’ve enjoyed immensely that I just haven’t gotten around to picking up. I need to make myself do a backlist challenge or something. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
1. The Caller by Juliet Mariller – I have had this final book in Marillier’s Shadowfell series for years now and haven’t read it. It’s been so long, I don’t think I can pick it up without revisiting the first two.
2. The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin – While it hasn’t been that long since I finished reading The Fifth Season, I have had this book for a few months now and really have no excuse for not picking up this sequel.
3. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik – This was a summer release that if you asked me before summer, I would have told you I was going to get to asap. That didn’t happen. I’m aiming for the end of the year though.
4. Invictus by Ryan Graudin – I’ve put off reading this one because of all the average reviews I’ve come across, but I still feel the need to read it because I loved her Wolf By Wolf duology so much. At some point I’m going to check this out from my library.
5. In the Shadow of the Blackbirds by Cat Winters – I think Cat Winters is one of the most underrated authors, but I’ve been guilty of neglecting her as well. I’ve had this one on my shelf for years and haven’t fit it into my schedule.
6. Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo – I am a huge fan of the Six of Crows duology, but I never got around to finishing the Grisha Trilogy. I will need to read the first again to continue.
7. Vicious by V.E. Schwab – I am also guilty of having this one on my shelf for years and not reading it. Every indication says I’m going to love it and yet…
8. The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May – I am a little afraid of this final book in The Falconer Trilogy, but now I fear I’ve waited too long to read it, so I might have to skim through the first two before picking it up.
9. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera – I try to space out my Adam Silvera books because if you know anything about his novels, they are emotionally heavy. I do want to read this one by the end of the year.
10. Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West – I’ve actually neglected the last two Kasie West’s books, but this is the one I’m really eager to get to. Next time I’m craving a light read, I might reach for this one.
Do you ever put off a sequel for too long? What’s one backlist book you’d like to get to by the end of the year? Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave me a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
THREE CHEERS for a Kasie West mention. Also, I have looked at Ryan’s latest book so much, but haven’t picked up, but I haven’t read anything by this author. Yet! 🙂

I’d recommend Ryan Graudin’s Wolf By Wolf duology!

I am always slow in getting to the sequel. Twenty years ago I scooped them up right away. Not these days. Hoping to catch up on Karen White’s Tradd series this year.
Spinning Silver and Listen to Your Heart look good. They Both Die in the End has been on my radar, but not sure I’m ready for it yet.
Have a great week.

Sometimes I’m really good with the sequels and sometimes I’m really bad. Need to make these more a priority. Yes, always prepare yourself for Adam Silvera books. Thanks, you too!

Spinning Silver and Invictus have been on my shelf to TOO long. They’re so intimidating >.<
But I just finished Vicious a few days ago and honestly? ALL THE STARS.

I really want to read Spinning Silver, but summer flew by and then I had other reading obligations. I only ever hear that Vicious is great. I am hoping to find time in November or December.

I always get Cat Winters and Cat Patrick mixed up, even though I think they write pretty different stuff! Elizabeth May has had me curious with her Falconer series too for a while…

I want to read something by Naomi Novik. Good luck catching up on your favorite authors. I went off the board this week and listed my favorite banned books since it is banned books week. My TTT Favorite Banned Books

Oh you need to read The Obelisk Gate, Siege and Storm and Spinning Silver very soon ❤ So good. Vicious didn't really work for me but so many other people love it. I also need to read Invictus though it will be my first book by this author. Hopefully for sci-fi month.

I know! I need more time in the day. You might be the first blogger I’ve come across who wasn’t overly fond of Vicious. I hope you enjoy Invictus!

I haven’t read the Six of Crows books yet because I want to read the Grishaverse books first. Spinning Silver is on my list of to reads at some point too.

My backlist is awful when it comes to sequels, haha. I’m terrible. I really do recommend They Both Die at the End, but like you said, it’s very emotional. It’s heartbreaking, but so worth it!

I so need to go back to Ryan Graudin’s Wolf by Wolf series — Invictus didn’t grab me as much as the WOlf duology did, but yes, didn’t finish that either (woops!)

I’ve not read any of these but there are several that interest me. I have put off reading Anne Bishop’s #5 in The Others series (which I love) and honestly, I have no excuse. And now there is a spin-off. I just love the series so much, I hate to say goodbye to the characters…oh, and time. There’s always that 🙂

I wasn’t that big a fan of Invictus, sadly. I’ve never read anything by Ryan Graudin yet, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect though. I still want to check out Wolf by Wolf. I really love the Grisha Trilogy, but I still need to read Six of Crows. Hopefully before the year ends!

I JUST read Vicious and it’s so good, so I recommend! I still need to read They Both Die at the End, though I love Adam’s other books. I have Invictus on my list too this week. 🙂 And Cat Winters is someone I’ve wanted to read for YEARS and just never have, but my book club is reading In the Shadow of Blackbirds in November so I’m excited.

I loved THE WALLED CITY, but I wasn’t impressed with the WOLF BY WOLF series. I’ve put off reading INVICTUS for the same reasons you have — lukewarm reviews, fear that it won’t live up to another book by her that I loved, etc. I’m not sure that I’ll ever read INVICTUS, but I might. You never know.
Happy TTT!
