Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings where bloggers share which upcoming releases they’re most looking forward to. Join us every Wednesday and watch your TBR list multiply. Cover is linked to Goodreads.
Natalie C. Parker’s Seafire has drawn comparisons to Mad Max: Fury Road and I fully admit, the moment I heard this, I added it to my TBR. We don’t get a ton of fantasy novels that feature a close-knit group of gals, so I’m really looking forward to this one.
Title: Seafire
Author: Natalie C. Parker
Series: Seafire, #1
Pages: 384
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: August 28, 2018
“After her family is killed by corrupt warlord Aric Athair and his bloodthirsty army of Bullets, Caledonia Styx is left to chart her own course on the dangerous and deadly seas. She captains her ship, the Mors Navis, with a crew of girls and women just like her, whose lives have been turned upside down by Aric and his men. The crew has one mission: stay alive, and take down Aric’s armed and armored fleet.
But when Caledonia’s best friend and second-in-command just barely survives an attack thanks to help from a Bullet looking to defect, Caledonia finds herself questioning whether or not to let him join their crew. Is this boy the key to taking down Aric Athair once and for all…or will he threaten everything the women of the Mors Navis have worked for?”

I agree with you that the fantasy genre lacks some amazing girl groups. This book sounds promising. Great choice! 🙂

I’m so excited for Seafire, too! I’ve not read anything by Natalie C. Parker before, but the comparison to Mad Max: Fury Road was very convincing for me.

I haven’t read anything by her either, but the comparison and the excerpt I read earlier this year has me really intrigued.

I haven’t heard of this book before. But an all woman ship crew is the best thing I’ve ever heard. We can’t get enough of fierce badass women aren’t we??
Hey I have another indie folk recommendation, try Lowlands by Alina Hardin! That’s so good!!

I need all the girl crew books! Listening to it now while I catch up on comments. It’s like poetry, and so melancholy, thank you!
