Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach.” This week I am sharing fifteen books that I plan to read this summer (haha, I’m laughing too). I always feel like there aren’t a ton of summer releases that I’m ever excited for, so this list will consist mostly of books I’ve had on my shelf for far too long and need to get to already. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
Have you read any of these? Tell me one summer release you’re most looking forward to. Be sure to leave me a link to your own TTT post in the comments, so I can visit.
There’s only one week left to sign up for the Summer 2018 Comment Challenge for the month of July! Every month we pair bloggers and they spend the month getting to know one another through comments on each other’s blogs. Join us and meet a new blogging friend. Sign-ups for July are open through June 25th. Click the image to the left for all the info.
I think this week’s top ten list is going to be bad for my TBR! 🙂 I am looking forward to eventually getting around to some of these books.

I know. Whenever we do TBR lists, my own multiplies. Me too!

I have Sandhya’s book on my list this week too. It looks TOO cute to hold anything BUT a cute story inside, too. Also, I really want to read the first book in Jenny’s ‘Boys’ series too because of the movie!! 🙂

If it’s anything like her previous book, I’m going to love it. You must read for To All the Boys I Loved Before. It’s one of my favorite contemporaries. Can’t wait for the movie!

I like this list!! Definitely some books I’ve been meaning to read– like AMERICAN PANDA and the final Lara Jean book. I hope you get to read all of these 🙂

I hear so much praise for American Panda. I bought it because everyone was raving, but still haven’t gotten to it. I need to finish Lara Jean’s series already.

I haven’t read any of these, yet, but Girls Made of Snow and Glass has been on my radar/TBR for a while now.

I see a bunch of books I enjoyed up there. Lara Jean’s final book was so bittersweet. I will miss her. I am still hoping Han takes my advice and gives us a Kitty series. You know, age her up, and let us find out how the whole family is doing. I see a lot of great choices up there. I hope you love them all.

You are not the only blogger I know who’d like to see a Kitty series. Thank you!

Spinning Silver was on my list this week too. I totally agree, there’s usually hardly any summer releases that I’m actually excited about, so I usually end up reading mostly older books over the summer (though I do have a few upcoming releases on my TBR).

There are only a couple of summer releases beside Spinning Silver that I might pick up, but not much until September for me. Summer is the perfect time to catch up!

Most of my summer reading will hopefully be things that I own too that I really need to read. I have Strange the Dreamer and They Both Die at the End that I MUST read ASAP. I also want to read Winter by Marissa Meyer and then the two graphic novels – I own all of these too. 🙂

Girls Made of Snow and Glass was a really interesting retelling. I’m hoping to get to Daughter of the Siren Queen sometime this summer, too!

I heard the writing in Girls one is really beautiful. Daughter feels like its going to be as fun as the first and sometimes that’s what I crave in the summertime.

Although I maintain that young adult lit really isn’t for me, I admire the field for its diversity of characters and writers. You have Mexican, African American, Chinese, Indian, etc. characters listed here!

Definitely feel like there’s been improvement on the diversity front in YA or at least in my own reading. Yes, so much diversity and there is also a Korean (Jenny Han), Filipina (Rhoda Belleza), Puerto Rican (Adam Silvera) author on the list. Plus City of Brass and Saints & Misfits are both written by Muslim women. Yay!

I couldn’t get into Strange the Dreamer, which totally sucked because it seems like everyone loves it. They Both Die At the End was pretty good. I really want to get to The Astonishing Color of After soon. And I still need to read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I always say I’m going to read it and I never get to it. Hopefully ASAP, because I think the Netflix movie is coming out this year and I want to read it before I watch it.

I think I remember you saying so about Strange the Dreamer. I know They Both Die is going to be a devastating read, but I want to get to it before all those fall releases come out. Yes, I am planning to read the final To All the Boys book before that movie comes out.

City of Brass is on my list this week too. And Strange the Dreamer is LOVELY in terms of writing style and story (I was especially fond of the first half, but overall the whole thing is pretty great). I hope all of these books go well for you!

Most of these are on my list! They Both Die in the End really punched me in the heart. I should have known from the title that this was going to be a sad book, but I still wanted to hope for the best. It’s impossible not to cheer these two on and wish something miraculous will happen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I think I’ve read about a third of the books on your list (ambitious, are you?). Of the five, I think The Belles was my favorite. It’s an interesting take on commentary about beauty standards, which I definitely didn’t know going into it. I’m currently listening to From Twinkle With Love and am enjoying it. Happy reading!

September is when all the books that I really really really want to read come out. Between now and then, I have a lot of books on my library’s waiting list, I might pick up a few books on a whim (got $75 to Amazon.com for my birthday), and I have a lot of books lying around the house that need to be read.

I have some must read fall books on my radar, starting in September. Yes, hoard those gift cards and get all the books you want. Ugh, you and me both. So many unread books I need to catch up on.
