Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Yummy Foods Mentioned In Books (Does a character eat something you’d love? Or maybe the book takes place in a bakery/restaurant that makes yummy things? You could also talk about 10 of your favorite cookbooks if you don’t read foody books.).” I struggled mightily with this week’s topic. Does this ever happen to you when you see a TTT topic and you completely draw a blank? So this week, I’m going to totally cheat and list a few fierce females that I wouldn’t mind sharing a meal with. As you can tell from the list, I might have a death wish? It could possibly be my last meal? I might die happy regardless? Covers are linked to Goodreads.
1. Shahrzad from The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh
2. Gauri from A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi
3. Yael from Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Graudin
4. Ada and Corinne by Iron Cast by Destiny Soria
5. Lada from And I Darken by Kiersten White
6. Xifeng from Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
7. Inej and Nina from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
8. Kestrel from The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
9. Elisa from The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
10. Ismae from Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Would you share a meal with any of these characters? Which fierce female would you like to bond over brunch? Let me know in the comments and be sure leave a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
Super fun way to spin the topic this week, Alicia. I’ve looked at “Grave Mercy” a lot (on lists or in passing on Amazon), but haven’t ever really looked too deeply into whether or not it’d be a “me” book. Glad to know it features a fierce heroine though – and that cover? It’s epic!
Still have to read Leigh’s and Marie’s series too! Someday.

Thank you so much! I know you like contemporary and Grace Mercy is a historical fantasy novel. Maybe if you’re in the mood for something outside your comfort zone. Both Leigh and Marie’s books are incredibly unique.

Nina would be such a delight to share a meal with. I love food, she loves food, we’re practically best friends already. Thank you!

Isn’t it just horrible that I can’t remember much about Ismae? I swear I’ve read and vaguely even recall enjoying her fierce and tenacious character. Sigh. But, I’m not a total lost cause. I adore Inej, Shahrzad, Yael, and Ada. As for the remaining, I would love to get to know them. Great list, Alicia! You missed yourself on that list. 😉

That is horrible, Lonna! But I love Ismae so much that in the grand scheme of things, I’m pretty sure my overwhelming love balances out your forgetfulness. Me? Pssshhhh. I’m gonna add you!

I like how you tweaked the topic this week. It really works! Ada and Corinne do not get mentioned enough. I love them. I would definitely eat out with them! (TBH I would hang out will all of these characters. Why do I love fictional people so much?)

I agree. I’d love to see Ada and Corinne get more love in the blogosphere. I also love fictional characters a lot, so you are not alone.

I have not read a single book on your list, so I can’t say whether I’d share a meal with the characters or not, but I love your spin on the topic!
Have a great week.

I have only read Grave Mercy and The Winner’s Curse. I loved both of them! The rest are on my TBR list though so that has to count as something right?

Sharhzhad would be fascinating to sit down eat with, and pretty much the whole cast of Six of Crows. 🙂

Yes, I’d love to sit down with the entire Six of Crows ensemble and maybe take part in a heist while I’m there 🙂

I would love to eat with Nina and Inej! I would be slightly worried Lada would kill me over dinner, I’ll be honest 🙂

Shahrzad was awesome! I liked Inej too. And Elisa was really special to me, because she grew and changed so much over the course of that trilogy.

Great list. A good meal is all about good company, right? I really enjoyed the women in the ones I’ve read (1, 3, 7, 9, 10), so now I’m that much more interested in picking up the rest of them.

I really like your twist on the topic! I had trouble this week even though I had ideas for the topic; sometimes I have trouble getting my thoughts down into words! It would be fun to have waffles with Inej and Nina and I bet Elisa would have some amazing food around. I’d be way too scared to eat with Lada though haha!

Thanks so much! I bet Nina and Inej would be phenomenal company over a meal. Oh yeah, Lada would have me shaking and yet, could I pass up the opportunity to share a meal with her?
