Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Authors I’m Dying To Meet / Ten Authors I Can’t Believe I’ve Met (some other “meeting authors” type spin you want to do).” I’ve never been to any kind of author event or book expo, so I’ve never met an author before. However, here are a few authors whose events I’d love to attend and who I’d love to hear talk about writing and their books. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
1. Jane Austen
2. Neil Gaiman
3. Anna-Marie McLemore
4. Juliet Marillier
5. Heidi Heilig
6. Meg Medina
7. Tiffany D. Jackson
8. Renée Ahdieh
9. Angie Thomas
10. Leigh Bardugo
Have you ever attended an author event? Which author would you cross the country to hear speak? Let me know in the comments and be sure leave a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
I’d love to meet Jane Austen, too, but not in a ghosty, creepy way. Ha! My TTT

Meeting Leigh Bardugo would be great, and I’d love to be able to chat to Jane Austen too.

I’d love to hear how Bardugo went about coming up with such great characters in Six of Crows. Yes, please to a sit down with Jane Austen.

Leigh Bardugo as well I think, and Gaiman and Marillier would be interesting too. And wouldn’t it be awesome if we could meet some of the greats like Austen?

There are so many authors from the past that I’d like to hear from.

Oh yes to Leigh Bardugo and Neil Geiman. I would also cross the country for Jonathan Stroud. I’ve only met Dutch authors at events. 🙂

I’d love to meet both so bad. I’ve never read Jonathan Stroud, but I hear so many good things.

I’m headed to NYC at the end of May for BookExpo! I went last year and it was incredible. I hope it is equally good this year.

Nice list Alicia! I had Leigh Bardugo on my list too as I’d just love to meet her (and probably embarrass myself by fangirling over Six of Crows)! I actually met V. E. Schwab last year at YALC and it was such a dream come true. She’s incredible, and I’m hoping to meet her again this year! I also met Melinda Salisbury at the same event and she’s lovely – she was wearing an amazing dresses so I told her how much I loved it and she seemed pleased! 🙂

Thank you, Kate! You wouldn’t be the only one fangirling over Six of Crows. So lucky to have met Schwab! I’d love to hear how she builds her worlds.

I’ve attended a few at a local book festival, but I didn’t meet them.

I don’t really live in a big city, so I’m really never on the lookout for author events. Maybe I should change that.

I don’t either, but it’s not that difficult to see and knows what’s close by.

Would love to attend an event of Gaiman. Austen’s biography writers say that she has a snooty side to herself as seen in her letters to her sister, much unlike her wonderful novels. I would be so curious to know what she is like in real life.

Haha. Having just read Emma, I can totally see Jane Austen being a bit snooty. And I kind of don’t hate her for it.

Me neither. 🙂

I magically met Gaiman about 7 years ago and it will go down as my favorite author experience. I remember people were milling about where they thought he would come out for mix and mingle and then he popped out behind me and I asked the only thing I could: “can I get a hug?” And he did. Such a good hug too. ❤

Authors write stories, but I’d love to know them as a person–their story. These are great! And, why am I not surprise J. Austen is top. *winkie, winkie* I’m so bummed that Affinity Konar (Mischling) was in my home town, and I by the time I found out, it was already over! So sad Alicia.

I bet Heidi Heilig would be awesome to meet! Same goes for Austen – if only! 🙂

I just started The Ship Beyond Time and I’d love to hear Heidi talk about her duology. We might need a time machine for Austen and hey, maybe Heidi could help us out with that.
