“You look well enough,” I say. I tilt my head slightly at him. “Less filthy than the last time I visited. You’ve been eating and drinking.” There were several weeks when he refused all food, when I thought he might intentionally starve himself to death. But he is still here.
The Midnight Star is the final book in Marie Lu’s The Young Elites trilogy about a girl pushed to the brink, who gives into the darkness inside her, becoming a villain for what she believes are all the right reasons. Read my full review here. Cover is linked to Goodreads.
From the Goodreads Synopsis:
“Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all that she’s achieved.”

I’ve heard such awesome things about this series, I’m sure I’ll be picking it up at some point in the future–just not right now, when I’m drowning in so many other books to read! Still, great choice for this week!
Thank you so much for sharing! Here’s my Friday 56 if you’re interested in taking a look. No worries or pressure if you’re not, though! Either way, happy book-ing to you in the near future…and happy Friday! ❤

I’m drowning in all the books I was supposed to get to this past year as well, but I hope you enjoy it when you do get a chance to pick it up.

Reaching the end of a series can be a good and bad thing. 🙂

I agree. If it’s done well, it’s satisfying, but hard to say goodbye.

I haven’t started this series yet. Maybe one day…. I dug into TBR mountain for my pick this week – Moonlight by Rachel Hawthorne. Happy reading!

I really like that it’s so different from other series that are from the perspective of the hero, here the villain is in the spotlight. Thanks!

Several years ago I read LEGEND by Marie Lu and thought the story was compelling but the writing was poor. I haven’t read anything else by her. I’ve been told her subsequent series are better. Do you agree?

I think this series is better than Legend, but that being said, I only read Legend and didn’t continue.
