“ALBUS: You were right, Scorpius. This train is magical.
SCORPIUS: At this precise moment in time, I take no pleasure in being right.”
I finally got a chance to pick up Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a play written by Jack Thorne. I was really apprehensive about this release, being a pretty staunch Potterhead, but I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. Read my full review here. Cover is linked to Goodreads.
Goodreads Synopsis:
“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.“
Giveaway Alert: If you haven’t entered my giveaway (US only) for an ARC of One Was Lost by Natalie D. Richards in celebration of Halloween, you can do so here.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

I really enjoyed The Cursed Child! That scene on the train was a lot of fun I thought, and Scorpius is wonderful!

I loved Cursed Child but had some issues with it.

Yes, it wasn’t perfect and I don’t think I’ll ever consider it to be canon, but I still enjoyed it.

I have the Harry Potter series and have seen this around. I wonder about the writing. Seeing it’s a play, is it difficult to read?

It isn’t difficult to read at all. I know some people had issues picturing everything, but I really enjoyed it.

This is on my stack. I’m eager to read it but have a stack of review books that need to come first. Mine is from a cute middle grade mystery – Friday Barnes Under Suspicion by R. A. Spratt. Happy reading!

I love the quote from the book. I just wish the story was written in prose, not as a play. My Friday Quotes

I think a lot of us would have liked the same and we wouldn’t probably want Rowling to be the one writing it as well.

Yes, me too! I wish we could have seen more positive portrayals of Slytherins in the original books. Thanks!

Sounds like something serious is about to happen? I remember you were apprehensive about starting this book. So glad it worked out for the best. I just knew it. “I take [all the] pleasure in being right. *Yeah, right, Lonna. Hahaha.*

It was a close one, I actually totally get why so many people dislike it, but as long as I don’t really consider it a part of the HP world, I’m good. Yes, Lonna, you are always right! 😛
