Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Tuesday REWIND — go back and do a topic you missed over the years or recently or a topic you really want to revisit.” So many possibilities for this week’s meme. I settled on Debut Books because I think that sometimes we overlook authors’ debut novels and sometimes they are unbelievably amazing that you wonder how they can possibly be debuts. So here are ten of my favorite debut novels. Covers are linked to Goodreads.
Do you have a favorite debut novel? Have you read any of these? Which topic did you decide to do this week? Let me know in the comments and be sure leave a link to your own TTT post, so I can visit.
I haven’t read any of these but I remember Graceling coming out right around when I started blogging, and I thought it sounded pretty good. Never did read it though. I should rectify that. Heard good things about Seraphina too.

Graceling was probably the first YA fantasy novel I picked up and I just fell in love. Yes, you should check out the series. Seraphina is fantastic, love the world building in that one.

Oh yes to Seraphina. I loved that book. And The Night Circus was great too.

I think my favourite would have to be Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I loved that book. I also adored Unearthly! Great choices. 🙂

Yes, I remember how much you love Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. Thought I’d throw in Unearthly, it’s a bit dated but I really enjoyed it.

This is a great TTT topic. I’m always in the market for new authors. Sometimes I fall into the habit of reading what and who I know. I would like to pick up The Night Circus again. I’ve started it but library due dates are a [some inappropriate word]. Savvy and Unearthly are new to me, I’ll make sure to add them to GR next time I’m there. Great list, Alicia. I always discover something new with your TTT. =)

Haha, yes library due dates are definitely [some inappropriate word]. I’ve had to return several books this year that I wanted to get to without cracking them open. Savvy is one of my favorite middle grade reads! The Unearthly trilogy has a special place in my heart, I think it was one of the first series I was obsessed with. Thanks for visiting, Lonna!

Great list! It’s hard to believe that Harry Potter was a debut novel! I haven’t read Seraphina or The Night Circus but both are on my TBR.

Harry Potter, it has to be Harry Potter.
For today’s Top Ten Tuesday I focused on my favorite books set outside the USA. https://coffeeandcatsblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/top-ten-tuesday-august-9th-2/

Still need to get my copy of Seraphina, ahhhh. Philosopher’s Stone is such an epic debut. On a similar note, hard to believe that the Hobbit was a debut novel too.

Seraphina is awesome! I need more books from this author immediately. I love that so many iconic authors have made their marks with debut novels.

Every time I see The Accident Season on a list for anything I am reminded that I still need to read it. I agree that Debut authors often don’t get the love they deserve. I would add Looking for Alaska to my list if that was the list I was creating.

Love The Accident Season. I hope you enjoy it when you do get a chance to pick it up. I haven’t read Looking for Alaska, but most people seem to love it.

Looooooved Graceling! I’m still waiting with bated breath over what Cashore is going to come up with next (and she’s been WRITING a fourth book…I just don’t know what!).

An excellent TTT! I’m also really glad you put up the original Seraphina cover. I am very displeased with the cover change. I was lucky enough to go to a Rachel Hartman book signing last year!

Thanks so much! Ugh, cover changes can be so awful. I love this particular cover and am so happy I got it before they change. That’s awesome! I hope you told her to write more books 😉
