The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. Join us every Friday and share an excerpt from a book you’re been reading.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post here in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.
**Be sure to leave a link to your Friday 56 post in the comments!**
“The first thing Ceony sensed was the smell of dust—metallic and rotten and dry. Then she registered the throbbing at the back of her head, the stiffness in her neck, the tight, bruise-like pain encircling her arms and torso. Dim light prodded at her eyelids, and she pulled them apart, blinking. A groan escaped her throat.”
The Master Magician, the final book in the Paper Magician series by Charlie N. Holmberg, was a great conclusion to a charming fantasy series. The magic in this one is utterly unique and I look forward to seeing more from this author. Excerpt taken from page 156. Cover linked to Goodreads.
My reviews for the Paper Magician series:
The Paper Magician The Glass Magician The Master Magician
Sounds like Ceony is being poisoned. Am I right. I haven’t heard of this series. I take it you really like it. I read The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

I don’t want to spoil it, but let’s just say something nefarious is happening here. I did very much enjoy this little series.

I thought about picking up this series when I saw the first two books on Netgalley but didn’t think I’d have the time to commit to it. Slightly regretting it now as I keep seeing it popping up! I hope you enjoy this one! Thanks for sharing 🙂 I hope you have a great week!

I read the first one from NetGalley and had to get my hands on the rest of the series. I will say that I do think the first book is the best out of the three. Thank you so much!

You don’t hear the words ‘utterly unique’ very often in a review, so The Master Magician sounds pretty special. I’m glad you’re enjoying this one and I loved the extract!

I’m telling you, I’ve never thought paper folding could be turned into something so magical, but this series has done a beautiful job of making it sound so charming.

Yes, it’s the final book in the Paper Magician series. I finally got around to the last one despite having it for over six months. Shame shame.
