Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read.” I thought I’d split this list into two categories: hyped books I’m going to read (these are either on my shelf or I’m currently waiting to get them from the library) and those I’m still not 100% sure about. Please feel free to give me your opinion on any of these if you have read them, especially if they are in the latter group. Covers are linked to Goodreads.

Five Hyped Books I Might Read:
Have you read any of these? Are there any I should pick up immediately? Any I should avoid? Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own TTT post!
Red Rising is an amazing book, so original and beautiful. I mean, if you are into mythology and war and stuff. It was one of the top books I read last year!

It sounds interesting. It’s science-fiction, right? I don’t read too much of the genre, so I’m not sure if this will appeal to me.

The only book that I’ve read on your list is The Fill-In Boyfriend which I thought was cute, but not Kasie West’s best book. I have Red Rising on my list this week too.

I have a feeling The Fill-In Boyfriend will be a fun, quick read and it’s certainly the season for it.

Read The Wrath and the dawn!!! I’m telling/shouting this to everyone LOL

Haha, I’m currently waiting to see if my library will pick it up, but your enthusiasm makes me very excited.

the fill-in boyfriend is cute but nothing special. I’d recommend it for a quick beach read or something like that

I figured as much, plus it’s nice to read something out of your current comfort zone every once in a while.

I just got The Wrath and the Dawn today. I am looking forward to it. THE WALLS AROUND US is not my favorite but then I’m not really a fan of horror fiction. Have fun reading.

Ooh, that actually makes me more intrigued by The Walls Around Us, I fancy horror. I might have to check it out sooner then.

You should start with Percy Jackson. 🙂

I’m really eager to start the series, but I must wait for a lull in my library book holds. Why must they all come at once?

I am so keen to read Girl With All The Gifts, Red Queen, Uprooted and Red Rising. The rest of the books on your list I’m the same with you they all sound really good and have been hyped a lot but I’m not sure if I’m to interested in reading them. I’ve read the Percy Jackson books and they are really fun and adventurous.

I’m really excited about the Girl With All the Gifts, I almost bought it before sense took over and I put it on hold at the library. Uprooted is getting so much praise, I cannot wait! I must pick up Percy Jackson!

I know everyone’s been gushing about Uprooted I hope it lives up to the hype!

I recently picked up The Lightening Thief after years of putting it off and it was a great decision! Loved it. So yeah, push that one up on your priority list.
The only other book on your list that I’ve read is Red Queen which I didn’t care for. To me, it felt like a bunch of my favourite books taken apart and then squished together.

I want to get to all of those books on your ‘maybe’ list and The Girl With All The Gifts and An Ember in the Ashes on your ‘definitely’ list! I’ve heard incredible things about Red Rising especially. Good post 🙂

I’m really excited to pick up the first two you mentioned, but I think I’m still on the fence about Red Rising.

A lot of these are on my list as well! I really want to read The Wrath and the Dawn- it sounds so different from the usual YA book. Plus, I love retellings, and it’s supposed to be based on the story of Arabian Nights. Great list! 🙂

Yes, that’s one of the reasons I want to pick it up to. Retellings are among my favorite kind of books as well.

Yesss, I need to read An Ember in the Ashes too! Red Queen was really underwhelming to me but hopefully it’ll work for you 🙂 And Red Rising is on my list as well, though I’m not a huge sci-fi fan so i wonder if it’ll confuse me or amaze me.

I’ve definitely lowered my expectations when it comes to Red Queen. Red Rising is on my list for the same reason. Science-fiction is not a genre I typically pick up, so I’m not sure about this one.

I didn’t like Percy Jackson who also made my list. I haven’t read any of the others, but Red Queen, Wrath & Dawn and Fill-in Boyfriend are on my list to read. 🙂 MyTTT

Definitely yes to Percy Jackson! That series looks so interesting and I have no idea why I haven’t gotten to it sooner. I’m curious about Red Queen and The Fill In Boyfriend looks pretty cute. Great list!

I don’t know why either! I’m still iffy about Red Queen, but I will probably pick up The Fill-In Boyfriend at some point.

Percy Jackson is awesome, as soon as you can, read that series. I have Red Queen on my TBR, so I can’t tell you if it’s good or not.

I really enjoyed Red Queen, one of my favourite reads this year. A lot of these I haven’t read yet like Red Rising, I think I might read that at some point 🙂
Here’s my TTT if you would like to check it out 🙂 Have a great day!

Oh Red Queen…so much hype and yet so many mixed reviews
I’m starting to sound like a broken record now, Alicia: READ PERCY JACKSON!

Yes, Red Queen took quite a hit after its release and consequently fell on my TBR list. Yes, I will read Percy Jackson! You’ll be happy to note, every time I see your name, my mind screams “PERCY JACKSON!”

I’ve read Percy Jackson and enjoyed them. (Each book gets better.) I’m on the fence on The Red Queen, I’ve seen mixed reviews.

I’ve heard it gets better as it continues. Lots of mixed feeling about Red Queen, which is why I have it on hold at the library and not on my shelf.

I LOVED The Walls Around Us, would definitely recommend it. And Red Queen is very good too. I’ve read The Girl With All The Gifts and thought it was just okay, but I think I’m in the minority.

I really enjoyed The Fill-in Boyfriend, but it’s definitely a cutesy contemporary which I don’t believe you always are up for. I would say skip Red Queen, but I know some people really love it.

I have this feeling I won’t enjoy Red Queen. I think there are several people in front of me for that library hold, I know I’ll at least glance at it, but I’m not sure I’ll read it. Whenever the contemporary mood strikes me, I’ll be seeking out The Fill-In Boyfriend.

I’m so glad I read the Mistborn books before they were ever hyped. I was actually shocked when I noticed how many people were blogging about them, since to me they have been old news for a while. I probably wouldn’t have read them now just because of all the hype they are getting. I’m weird like that.
I’m curious about Uprooted, because I like the author’s other books, but I haven’t had a chance to really look at it yet. Maybe some day. 🙂

I completely understand. Hype can be a turn-off sometimes.

I haven’t read any of these either. I do have The Red Queen and hope to get to it this summer, and Uprooted has appealed to my reading senses.

It’s taking me forever to get to Red Queen. I was initially excited, but I’ve been putting it off. Uprooted sounds like an amazing read.

There are a few on this list that I need to read as well! I was pretty stoked for Girl With All The Gifts prior to the release but have since forgotten about the title until this week. So thank the spirit of TTT for reminding me!

Of course! I actually forgot about it too until recently and I was this close to buying it, but because I am strong, I am waiting for the library hold instead.

I enjoyed The Red Queen, but I see a lot of readers felt it basically ripped off Red Rising, which I haven’t read.
Personally, I found Percy Jackson dull. Minority opinion, I know.

I (obviously) haven’t read either, so I wouldn’t really know, but I think I’ll at least give Red Queen a try. I hope I don’t find it dull, I quite like a good children’s book.

I read The Girl with all the Gifts, and I wasn’t too impressed. Maybe it was the genre…I don’t even know. I felt like it dragged by rather slow. I purchased The Wrath and the Dawn several weeks ago, but I’m in no hurry to read it. I might save it for vacation!
